A great way to beat a high-pressure women’s lacrosse defense is to spread the field and play from an open set. By clearing out the middle and spacing your players wide, you force the defense to extend — if they want to pressure and cut off passing lanes, they have to chase farther from help.

Once the defense is stretched, an off-ball pick for a wing or high attacker can open the middle. With no player occupying the 8-meter, that space becomes perfect for a quick feed, dodge, or cut right through the heart of the defense.
