Objective: Teach defenders how to perform a legal and effective stick check while maintaining strong body positioning.

Start with body positioning: Always establish strong body position before attempting a check. Stay balanced and in front of the attacker.

Read the cradle: Watch the attacker’s cradle. If she's a lefty, expect the stick on her left side. Time your check when the ball is exposed.

Step and swipe: Take a step toward the attacker and swipe your stick away from her body in an upward and outward motion.
