A successful zone defense depends on having a great Rover. The Rover is responsible for reading the offense, anticipating the next pass, and moving quickly across the 8-meter to help teammates and disrupt plays.
A good Rover doesn't wait for the ball to arrive. Instead, she reads the offense and predicts where the next pass or attack will happen.
By anticipating the play, the Rover can get into position before the offense has a chance to create an open shot.
The Rover must always be aware of her position inside the 8-meter.
