Set up the drillPlace two cones or lines about 10–15 yards apart. This simulates the attacker’s movement direction.
Starting stanceThe defender starts in an athletic position: feet shoulder-width apart, knees bent, stick out front in defensive posture (top hand on throat, bottom hand mid-shaft).
Simulate attacker’s movementA partner or coach makes a fake move to one side, imitating a dodging attacker.
Drop step reactionThe defender quickly drop steps with the outside foot (same side as the dodge), turning hips and shoulders to open up and run alongside the attacker.
