Take your basic 2-2-2 set and envision in 3 sets of 2's. The goal is to have each set of two working together as a team within the team. The thinking here is that it is easier to get in sync with one other person rather than 5 others. You can have 2 great dodging attackman who operate from behind with one who is a great scorer from the crease.
Benefits:- Very easy to practice as they can practice the two man game in small groups.- You can easily change one player for another without disrupting the entire system- A very simple concept to teach.- This a great concept to avoid a talented defensive player. Bringing him to the crease and forcing him to fight through picks on the crease can cause a lot of frustration for some very talented defenseman.
Off ball constantly trying to help your partner get open by setting picks, slip picks, fake picks, moving, whatever it takes.
