Nothing in the game of lacrosse is as exciting as scoring goals. No matter what offense your team uses in the half field situation success depends on each player’s ability to perform fundamental skills, to coordinate the six players spacing and timing so as to create scoring opportunities and to “finish the scoring opportunity.”
Passing, catching, dodging and shooting are fundamental skills that must be mastered in order for any offense to be effective. Without these fundamentals it is very difficult to be successful on the offensive end of the field.
As your team improves fundamentally with individual skills you must coordinate your six offensive players into half field sets that give you scoring opportunities. The 1-3-2 is a set that, if executed properly, will give your team a number of good chances to score. There are basic rules for the player with the ball and the five players without the ball, but at the same time allow for options and choices depending on the defense you are going against.
