How to Perform a Jump Shot in Lacrosse
The jump shot is an essential skill in lacrosse, particularly for players looking to improve their shooting while on the move. Here are the key steps to execute a jump shot effectively:
Setup: Start by chopping your feet to get your defender off balance. This helps you create the space necessary to perform your shot. After that, make a split step, and as you come out of it, turn your body slightly to hide your stick, showing the goal with your shoulder.
Shot Preparation: As you come out of the split, you should elevate off your left leg (for a right-handed shot) while pulling your stick back. Make sure your arm is fully extended for maximum power. The goal is to wind up as much as possible to generate the force needed for the shot.
