Skills to Work On: Picking up the ball and cradling

Warm-Up (15 minutes)

  1. Dynamic Stretches: Movements like jumps, lunges, and trunk twists.

  2. Light Jog: Dynamic warm-up with a game of tag.

Technical Skill Development (30 minutes)

  1. Ground ball Drill (15 minutes): Kids practice picking up balls from the ground quickly from different distances and speeds.
    Hungry Hungry Hippos” Game (15 minutes)

    • Objective: Develop the technique of picking up the ball while improving hand-eye coordination and agility.

  2. Cradling Drill (15 minutes): Kids practice maintaining the ball in the stick while running.
    Sharks and Minnows” Game (10 minutes)

    • Objective: Test the learned technical skills by developing better ball protection abilities.

High-Intensity Drills (10 minutes)

Relay Race (10 minutes): Kids run in teams, passing the ball to each other, combining both skills (picking up and cradling).

Tactical Play and Scrimmage (20 minutes)

Mini-Match (10 minutes): Divide the kids into two teams and play a mini-game.

Cool-Down (10 minutes)

  1. Static Stretches: Stretches to relax the muscles.

  2. Reflection and Feedback: Talk about what was learned and provide positive feedback.
