West Genny drill

Named for legendary lacrosse power West Genesee High School in upstate New York
 this a fast-paced drill that is all about transition
 and finishing around the goal that has become a staple of lacrosse teams around the country.   It will improve stick skills, quick decision-making
, it is a simple drill to run and players get very competitive.

Set up:

  •  team is split into two making 3 lines behind the goalie on each side

  • Goals are placed about 40 yards apart

  • Each cage should be stocked with balls so that the goalie can quickly snag one and get the action started.


The drill:

  • 3 players on one side start with the ball.

  • The team on the opposing side sends two defenders out

  • When the ball is shot, dropped or goes out of bounds, the last player to touch the ball exits the drill and goes back into one of the 3 lines.

  • The other two players fall back on defense

  • The 2 players on defense exit the drill and go back into one of the 3 lines

  • 3 new players of that the team that was just on defense receive an outlet from the goalie and go the other way
