Dodge draw the slide move the ball one more

Dodge, draw the slide, move the ball, one more.  It is that simple and so effective.  A coach can not say it enough.  Pulling the defense to one side and being able to get the ball to the other side of the field is a basis for so many offenses regardless what set you are functioning out of.

Teach the players, If you know they are sliding from the crease and teach you crease man to pop up high that can create so many opportunities as shown below.

In the diagram below the crease defender will be looking to help.  The crease man should be communicating this to the dodger once it is recognized.  He should also recognize if a second slide is coming and where it is coming from.

  • Once the dodger goes and the slide is coming from the crease he can roll back to the crease man who will be showing high.

  • In this diagram it is important he shows high on the crease to minimize how much the dodger needs to turn to see him.

  • As the crease man is popping up he will know before he gets the ball if he will shoot or make one more pass.

  • If he makes the one more pass, the player on the other side will be ready to shoot
