Carry & fill man up scheme out of a 3-3 set

The man-up offense should set up in a formation that allows for quick ball movement and opens up shooting lanes. The most common formation is the "3-3" where three middies play high and three attackmen play low.

If you are a fan of the dodge and fill philosophy this carry and fill concept will work very well for your man up.  It is a very simple scheme which say:

  • If the ball carrier is coming at you, clear to the crease

  • If you are in the crease and somebody is coming to take your place, fill in for where the ball carrier came from.

The idea is that this will get the zone shifting as they have to respect the ball carrier.

It is such a simple concept that if executed well can create so many open looks from the roll back, to the skip pass or simply stepping in for a shot.

That  player who is filling into the vacated spot will be open for the roll back pass and be in a position e to shoot or distribute as the defense will be balanced.

You can do this from a variety of spots as shown in the image above.
