3 Man Wheel Around X Extra Man Lacrosse Play
This play is a twist on a simple 3 man wheel by having one part of the wheel circle around the goal through X. This play provides many different looks and nicely resets the formation to run the play again. You can also flip the wheel and run it on the other side if you want to get it to the lefties.
How It Works
The pass from 1 to 4 triggers the play
4 can pass to 2 if he is wide open- that’s the easiest look but isn’t often open
As we pass the ball across the top (from 1 to 3) and then to the wing (3 to 6) we want each of these players to step in to draw in the defense. If 3 or 6 have really good shots they can take them but we are looking for more of a dunk on this play.
2 is often the scorer here but once you score that way it usually isn’t open again, this is when it is good to look inside (either a pass from 6 or 2)
