2-3-1 Pass Down Pick Down with Backside Cycle
How It Works
M2 passes down to A3, cutting towards the crease in case of an easy give and go, then cutting back towards A3 to set a pick. A2 moves ballside in case his man goes to help the 2 man game on the wing.
As the 2 man game is initiated we will get our backside cycle where M1 cuts towards the crease, M3 fades to the wing, and A1 floats high.
As A3 runs off the pick, he must make a quick decision after reading the defense. His primary options are to run off pick and shoot, throw back to the pick/hit the slip, or hit M1 cutting towards the crease if left wide open.
If none of that is there he will throw the ball immediately to A1 who will reinitiate the play on the backside.
Skills
Any two man game you can use on the wing (picks, fly bys, switch picks, etc.)
step downs, inside finishing, shooting on the run, touch pass off 2 man
Player Roles
Aside from A2, this is a somewhat positionless offense that requires players to be able to fill different roles as the play is run multiple times and they are put into different positions. Ideally the player that starts on the crease is good with two hands as they will be the ball carrier in the second run through of the offense, this gives flexibility to which side the offense chooses to initiate first.
